Methods and tools

Ensuring the adoption and effective use of methods and tools throughout the organization.

Methodological Guidelines:

There is a wide range of methods and tools supporting areas such as, but not limited to, planning, development, testing, operation, management, and maintenance of systems.

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

evaluating, selecting, and implementing methods and tools

measuring, adapting, improving, and automating the use of methods and tools.

Methods and Tools: Level 3

Provides support for the use of existing methods and tools. Customizes methods and tools in a known context. Creates and updates documentation of methods and tools.

Methods and tools: level 4

Provides advice and guidance to support implementation of methods and tools and compliance with policies and standards. Adjusts processes according to agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools. Reviews and improves the use and application of methods and tools.

Methods and tools: level 5

Provides advice, guidance, and expertise to facilitate implementation of methods and tools and compliance with policies and standards. Evaluates and selects appropriate methods and tools in accordance with agreed upon policies and standards. Contributes to the development of organizational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods and tools. Implements methods and tools at program, project, and team level, including selection and adaptation to agreed upon standards. Manages reviews of the benefits and value of methods and tools. Identifies and recommends improvements.

Methods and tools: level 6.

Develops organizational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods and tools. Directs and manages the implementation and use of methods, methodologies, and tools to meet business requirements. Leads the development of organizational capabilities of methods and tools to ensure consistent adoption and adherence to policies and standards.
